Medequip Donate Matchday Wheelchairs

Ipswich Town Foundation is delighted to announce that Medequip and its wheelchair service, Ross Care, have donated nine wheelchairs for supporters to use on matchdays.

Medequip is the leading provider of community equipment services to local authorities and the NHS across the UK, delivering equipment to support those who need it in their own homes, with the aim of keeping people independent for longer.

The wheelchairs, which are all branded, will contribute to make the experience of visiting Portman Road more accessible on a matchday, adding to improvements across last season including the return of sensory packs and the addition of more accessible benches in the pre-match FanZone.

‘Medequip and our wheelchair service Ross Care provide the Community Equipment Service on behalf of the NHS in Suffolk,’ said Andrea Clifton, Account Manager at Medequip.

‘We are delighted to have been able to supply wheelchairs for use by visitors to the stadium. We work hard to give back to the community that we live and work in and we look forward to continuing to work with ITFC to increase disabled access to football for everyone of all ages whether playing or watching.’

‘This is an incredibly generous and thoughtful donation from Medequip,’ added Disability Liaison Officer Lee Smith.

‘It will allow the Club to offer more assistance to its guests and supporters and will enable them to attend games and events here at Portman Road. We can’t thank Medequip and Ross Care enough.’

Any supporters who are looking to use the wheelchairs can contact the Club’s Disability Liaison Officer Lee Smith at lee.smith@itfc.co.uk.

This donation will further solidify the Club and the Foundation’s commitment to providing an accessible for all supporters and those looking to get involved in football. The Foundation’s disability provision provides sessions for people of all ages, including Adult PAN Disability football, Youth PAN Disability football and multisport sessions, Frame Football, and a new Powerchair football session, launching 20 August.

Everyone at Ipswich Town and the Foundation would like to place on record their sincerest thanks to Medequip and Ross Care for their generosity.
