FOUNDATION PARTICIPANTS TO RECEIVE CPR TRAINING

Marking Heart Month this February, matches across the EFL kicked off one minute late as a powerful reminder that every minute can be the difference between life and death.
The EFL’s ’Every Minute Matters’ campaign, led by Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation (BHF), highlights a critical fact: for every minute without CPR or defibrillation during a cardiac arrest, a person’s chance of survival drops by up to 10%.
Over the coming months, Ipswich Town Foundation will support the campaign by aiming to empower 750 staff, participants and fans to learn CPR by Restart a Heart Day on 16 October. Just 15 minutes is enough to gain the skills that could help save a life, whether through online training or hands‑on sessi15ons.
On Friday, over 40 participants of our Armed Forces café, Brew Army, received CPR training from St John’s Ambulance during their regular cafe session at Portman Road.
“It is such important skill to learn, we must all take ownership and not assume someone else will be there to do it,” said John Sherman, a participant at Brew Army following their training. “You could be the person needed to save a life at any time.”
“Empowering our staff and participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver CPR is an initiative all at the Foundation are passionate about,” said Director of Foundation, Dan Palfrey.
“We’re delighted and thankful to be working alongside St. John Ambulance to enable this initiative, which can make a real difference to the lives of people in our community.”
“St. John Ambulance in Suffolk is delighted to have this opportunity to partner with the Ipswich Town Foundation to raise awareness on such an important topic,” added John Irwin JP, Deputy County Commissioner.

“We look to harness the power of Ipswich Town’s local presence and our expertise to teach CPR across Suffolk, empowering individuals to step up and save lives.”
More than 40,000 out‑of‑hospital cardiac arrests occur in the UK each year, most of them at home. That means the person who needs CPR is likely to be someone you love.
