Last month, the Foundation hosted its annual Post-16 Football & Education programme End of Season Awards evening at Portman Road, celebrating the successes of the students through the 2025/26 season.

Hosted in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite, the evening saw students and staff from the Foundation and its education providers Suffolk New College and Northgate Sixth Form come together to celebrate another successful year for the programme.

This season the Post-16 programme consisted of six teams, men’s A to D teams and women’s A and B teams, with successes including both Men’s & Women’s teams winning their respective Suffolk County Schools FA County Cup finals representing Suffolk New College.

Players and Managers from all six squads voted to award their Players’ Player of the Season and Managers’ Player of the Season, with the women’s teams also awarding an Opposition Player of the Year –  the winner selected by opposition players throughout the season.

Returning this season was the Goal of the Season, sponsored by Suffolk New College. Chosen by supporters in a poll via Instagram, there were around 2,000 views on each of the eight goals selected and over 500 votes for both the Mens’ and Womens’ Award. Congratulations to Joel Boswell and Katie O’Shea who took home the respective awards.

Men’s and Women’s Top Goal Scorer awards were also awarded, Joe Watson and Katie O’Shea the winners of those honours.

Student of the Year, sponsored by U.S. Sports Scholarships, celebrates the academic success of a student, with nominations from both Suffolk New College and Northgate Sixth Form. The winner was Millie Courteen who has demonstrated a positive attitude towards her learning throughout the academic year.

The final award of the night was Club Person of the Year, sponsored by Suffolk New College, went to Sam Shaw who demonstrated exceptional values and commitment to the programme throughout the season.

“Our awards evening is always a highlight of the year where we get the opportunity to celebrate the success of our students both on and off the pitch,” said Head of Education & Employability, Robert Peace.

“The event also signs the end of the programme for some of our students as they graduate and progress to the next steps of their lives. I wish all students the very best in their progression and congratulations to all the award winners.”
