Earlier this week, the Club’s U18 squad took part in a day of community engagement at the Foundation Football Festival.
The Foundation Football Festival, hosted at Portman Road, is a week-long camp for young people aged 5-16, including disability and girls only groups, offering participants qualified coaching from Foundation staff, opportunities to engage with Foundation inflatables, as well as skills sessions, tournaments, as well as being provided with their own t-shirt, football, and bag.
The U18 squad, made up of first and second year scholars, spent time assisting coaches and engaging with the participants throughout the day, as part of an ongoing effort to engage the Club’s Academy players in the work the Foundation is undertaking in the community.
“The Academy is there to build football players, but its also important that we’re developing people,” Academy Player Care Officer Kyran Clements has said.
“We want the players to build different skill sets that they don’t often get exposed to or the opportunity to work on, empowering them to explore interests and opportunities to mix with different age groups and to give back as well.”
