Foundation Fixture this Saturday

Town’s home match with Middlesbrough on Saturday, 13 April has been named as the Club’s annual Foundation Fixture.

Following the success of last year’s fixture – Town’s 6-0 victory against Charlton Athletic on the way to promotion from Sky Bet League One, Foundation Fixture, a matchday dedicated to raising awareness of the work Ipswich Town Foundation carries out in the community, returns for the 2023/24 season.

The matchday also provides the Foundation with a vital fundraising opportunity, with over £30,000 raised last year to support the continued development and growth of the diverse provision offered across Suffolk and the surrounding areas.

As part of the event, supporters are encouraged to donate to the Foundation, with fans able to donate on the day inside and around Portman Road through bucket collections which will include contactless devices for those looking to pay by card. Online donations are also accepted through the Foundation’s JustGiving page.

As well as this, text donations will also be available both ahead of and on the day of this year’s fixture. To donate, supporters can text ITFC followed by the amount they wish to donate (e.g. ITFC10 to donate £10) to 70580.

In addition to supporter donations, the Club has pledged the following donations to support the Foundation:

• £1 from each home match ticket.
• £1 from every matchday programme sold.
• 50% of profits on new Foundation products in Planet Blue.
• 50p per pint.
• 100% of profits from Matchday Lottery.

A number of local businesses have also committed the following support to the Foundation on the day, with plenty of opportunities for supporters to donate to the Foundation:

• 50p from every pint and £1 from every Foundation Burger sold at The Greyhound.
• £5 per burger and £1 per coffee sold at Honey & Harvey.
• 25p per pint at The Falcon for both Watford on Wednesday and Foundation Fixture on Saturday.
• 25p per pint at Bar Twenty One.
• £1 per pint of Adnams Ease Up IPA sold at Arcade Tavern.
• The Cake Station will be selling an ITFC-themed product in the FanZone, with all proceeds to be donated to the Foundation.
• 50p per coffee sold in the FanZone at Combat2Coffee.

In the lead up to Foundation Fixture, participant stories, staff interviews, and behind the scenes features on the Foundation’s work have been shared across the Ipswich Town Foundation’s social media channels.

Saturday’s Foundation Fixture will see an enhanced on the day presence, including an increased Foundation presence in the FanZone, as well as Foundation participants taking part in the pre-match Coach Arrival package and a half-time pitch walk.

“We’re delighted to announce our Foundation Fixture for this season,” said Director of Foundation, Dan Palfrey.

“It’s a big day in the calendar for us as it provides an opportunity to showcase the work we undertake in the community and genuine positive impact we are having on peoples’ lives.

“With everything we have planned for the build up and the day itself, it should be a fantastic occasion in front of a packed out Portman Road.

“The day itself provides a significant fundraising opportunity for the Foundation, and we’re very grateful for the Club’s support on this. All funds raised will help us reach more people in the community, and make a genuine positive difference to their lives.”

“Once again I am delighted that the Club will have a dedicated matchday for the Foundation,” Town CEO Mark Ashton said.

“The Foundation sits at the heart of everything we do at the Football Club, and days like this allow us to highlight the vital work carried out every day in our community.

“Last year’s fixture against Charlton Athletic was a great success, and again I urge all supporters to give what they can to help our Foundation continue to make a positive impact and influence the lives of people in Ipswich, Suffolk and beyond.”
