The Foundation are delighted to announce four shortlisted nominations across three categories for the Active Suffolk Awards 2023.
The Active Suffolk Awards is a prestigious event which celebrates the achievements of sports men and women across the county, as well as individuals working within the leisure sector, schools and organisations who work tirelessly to encourage, support, and empower the local people of Suffolk to be more physically active.
The Foundation have shortlisted nominations in the following categories:
Activity Champion of the Year
Lauren Revill
Eoin Mcnamee
Lauren works as an Apprentice in the Foundation’s Health and Wellbeing department; supporting the development and delivery of a variety of programmes and initiatives including Golden Days Dementia Café, Senior Blues Café, Disability Football (Adult and Youth), Walking Football, LGBTQ+ football, Soccer Schools and in-school delivery.
Eoin started the Frame Football sessions while volunteering with Coplestonians Football Club. Early this year, the session transferred across to the Foundation and has grown each month since, moving to a large facility at Suffolk One to accommodate more players. Further to Frame Football, Eoin has worked with Foundation Staff to introduce powerchair football and a multisport session.
Active Community of the Year
Health and Wellbeing Department
The Foundation’s Health and Wellbeing Department is currently engaging with over 200 participants each week across a variety of programmes and initiatives, including; Golden Days Dementia Cafés, Senior Blues Café, Disability Football (Adult and Youth), Walking Football, Soccer Schools, Crime Prevention & Rehabilitation, LGBTQ+, Mental Health sessions and wider community engagement such as supporting FIND. The department has grown to three members of staff over the last year to ensure the community is supported to increase their access to physical activity.
Team of the Year
Frame Football
The Foundation’s Frame Football team (Ages 5-8) contributed to the Club’s successful 2022/23 campaign by winning the Frame Football National Shield at St Georges Park, the FA’s National Football Centre in May 2023. The Foundation’s Frame Football sessions are open to all youth participants to attend.
The winners and awards will be announced at the ceremony taking place at Trinity Park on Friday 17 November 2023.
