The Ipswich Town Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of a new LGBTQ+ weekly football session, which will take place at Portman Road on Tuesday evenings.
The sessions will provide a safe and inclusive environment for individuals in the LGBTQ+ community as well as allies of the community who wish to participate in regular structured and enjoyable activities led by a qualified Foundation coach.
The Club and Foundation will be working with the Club’s official LGBTQ+ supporter group, Rainbow Tractors, to launch the weekly sessions which will also provide an opportunity to meet new people and promote good mental health. The sessions are open to all abilities.
Participation in organised sport within the LGBTQ+ community is low, with members often feeling unwelcome, particularly in football. Furthermore, Suffolk Mind, a charity partner of the Club, state that a high percentage of individuals in the LGBTQ+ community struggle with their mental health.
The group sessions, which will initially be free to attend, will launch on Tuesday, 27 June and run from 6pm until 7pm. Booking is advisable, however not mandatory.
