George Hirst visits Portman Road Soccer School

Town forward George Hirst visited the Foundation’s Soccer School at Portman Road on Thursday afternoon.

George visited each of the groups present at the session, made up of participants aged 4-12, taking time to answer their questions about his career, his time at Town so far, and his thoughts on the run in to the end of the season. He then joined in with small-sided games with the participants.

“It’s always nice to come down and see all the kids enjoying themselves on a day like today,” George said, speaking at yesterday’s session.

“For any club [the community] is a big part of it, having a facility like this at the stadium available for kids like these during their half-term breaks and having sessions like this for them to just enjoying playing football.

“It’s how I started, it was never a job when I was 5, 6, 7 years old, it was all about having a kick about with your friends.”

Our popular Soccer Schools run during every school holiday period, offering children aged 6-12, the opportunity to join us at a variety of locations across the region.

All Soccer Schools and Holiday Camps are delivered by qualified Ipswich Town Foundation coaches, and provide the opportunity for participants to win medals and tickets for future ITFC home matches.
