Tomorrow’s game against Charlton Athletic at Portman Road is the Club’s dedicated Foundation Fixture, which aims to raise awareness of the work Ipswich Town Foundation carries out.
As part of the event, supporters are encouraged to donate to the Foundation to help improve and further grow the work carried out to support the community across the region. Supporters will be able to donate to the Foundation through card and cash collections, with Foundation staff positioned at locations around the outside of the ground and in the FanZone. Supporters unable to attend will be able to donate to the Foundation here or by using the QR code attached, as well as through a donation prompt on the Club’s ticketing website.
As well as this, the Club has pledged the following to support the Foundation:
Tomorrow’s FanZone will see an increased Foundation presence, with many of the new inflatables, provided by funding from Town fan Steve Kirby, available for fans to use. The Foundation will also have a stall set up in the FanZone marquee, with information on our programmes available for supporters who are interested to find out more about the work the Foundation undertake, with opportunities to sign up to sessions as well.
Foundation content will be shown on a TV in the FanZone marquee and on the big screen in the stadium, showcasing our programmes and some of the stories of our inspiring participants.
At half-time, the Foundation will be taking part in a pitch walk, with one participant from each of our programmes nominated to walk around the Portman Road pitch. These participants have been nominated by the Foundation staff due to their exceptional commitment to the sessions and their fellow participants.
As well as this, five Junior Blues, who are also participants of the Foundation’s open access and development sessions, have been given the opportunity to assist with the following key roles on matchday as part of a Junior Takeover:
“It’s a big day in the calendar for us as it provides an opportunity to showcase the work we undertake in the community and genuine positive impact we are having on peoples’ lives,” said Dan Palfrey, Director of Foundation.
“With everything we have planned for the build up and the day itself, it should be a fantastic occasion with community at the heart of it.
“As well as awareness, this is a fundraising opportunity for the Foundation. We’re extremely grateful for the Club’s support. All funds raised on the day will help the Foundation continue to grow our programmes and ultimately make a positive impact to the local community.”
