Foundation Present at Active Suffolk PE & School Sport Conference

The Foundation were present at the Active Suffolk PE & School Sport Conference at The Hold in Ipswich on Wednesday.

Members of our Schools team, Chris Scopes, Ash Wootton, and Rob Wood-Norman delivered a workshop on the work the Foundation do with the Premier League Primary Stars programme, whilst Town midfielder Lee Evans took part in a panel discussion  about lived experiences of sport and PE.

Chris, Ash, and Rob discussed the support the Foundation offers to schools across the region, before delivering a talk on the Premier League Primary Stars programme, a national curriculum-linked education programme that uses the appeal of the Premier League and Ipswich Town Football Club to inspire children to learn and be active.

Lee Evans was joined on the panel, which was hosted by Stephen Foster, by two-time Paralympian, Evie Edwards, Athlete Mentor for the Youth Sport Trust and former world champion Thai boxer, Rachel Mackenzie, and CEO of Stormbreak, Darryl Walsh. The panel answered questions on their experiences of PE in school, the impact their teachers had on the early parts of their sporting careers, and offered suggestions as to how teachers in schools can improve their sessions to make them more important.
