The Ipswich Town Foundation’s Walking Football team competed in a friendly festival on Monday evening which was hosted at Portman Road.
The Foundation welcomed teams and players from Colchester United and Cambridge United for the first walking football festival hosted by the Club.
Around 50 players represented the teams attending the event; including Ipswich Town legend and Club Ambassador, Simon Milton, who featured for the Foundation’s team throughout the evening.
The highly contested tournament-based competition was enjoyed by all attendees; however, the Ipswich side were to be successful in all matches and managed to avoid conceding all evening.
Leanne Smith, Community Engagement Officer said, “it was a great evening to come together with Colchester United & Cambridge United to host our first walking football festival.”
“All players participated in good spirits and there was some fantastic football on show.”
“As a team, we look forward to participating in future events.”
The Foundation’s walking football sessions are hosted weekly on a Monday evening, 6:00-7:00pm on the Practice Pitch at Portman Road and have been specifically designed to boost mental and physical wellbeing in an enjoyable and welcoming atmosphere.
